HOW TO SEND YOUR CHRISTMAS CARDS OUT REALLY LATE—or maybe we are just really early for this year!
1. Buy your cards after Christmas 2007 and put them away in a place that you will absolutely, positively remember —so you will be ready to send them out early next Christmas—at the latest, December 15th!
2. Get a digital camera for your birthday in May, so that you can take fun family pictures to send out with the Christmas card.
3. Learn how to use the digital camera (that’s easy) and how to download the pictures from the camera (a little tougher, but I figured it out with only minimal help from Katie, Christy and Adrianna).
4. Take pictures in early September! HOORAY—so far we are on track.
5. Agree to be the costumer for a community theatre production of Peter Pan that has a cast of over 150 with performance dates in mid November (can you see where this is starting to fall apart?)
6. (Sue Ann) Spend a lot of time buying fabric, tracking down rental costumes, borrowing costumes and sewing costumes—fortunately I had good help. (Bryce) Spend a lot of time after work building sets for Peter Pan in a borrowed warehouse then just before the production, spend many more hours taking sets apart, moving them into the theater and putting them back together. They were awesome! Could it be a new hobby? (Adrianna) Spend a lot of time learning to be a “Lost Boy” in Peter Pan. Have a lot of fun singing, chasing and being chased by Indians and Pirates. Just generally have a blast!
7. When the play is over take at least one week to clean and return some costumes, clean and store others. Take sets apart again and move into storage. Take a deep breath and host Thanksgiving Dinner--great fun.
8. Realize that Tegan has grown and changed so much since the picture was taken in September that we need a new picture!
9. Try to figure out when and where to take a new picture during December.
10. Give up the new picture idea—December is too hectic—Enjoy Christmas! Send the original picture online to Costco to be printed. One hour photos—YAY, we can still get these cards out before January!
11. Pick up the pictures and find out that the tops of some heads and the bottoms of others are cut off. Whoops, poor cropping (Sue Ann’s fault). Resend the pictures with all heads intact. Drive to Costco again (during the after Christmas return crazies).
12. Take time out to say Happy New Year and then put away the Christmas decorations. At our house this is not just a morning’s work. We have a lot of Christmas decorations and lights! Encounter several days of interruptions and other things that need to be done NOW! Finally the last decoration is safely in the basement and the house looks a little bare.
13. Sit down and write this explanation! We hope you laughed just a little bit reading it—or at least cracked a smile.

I got my Christmas Card before Christmas...I guess you just don't like everyone else as much as you like us! :)
Funny. Tegan has grown up crazy fast, sorry maybe next year when we take pictures she will still look the same by Christmastime.
ok. I'll be waiting. Patiently of course.
