Summer seemed to zip by this year. Maybe that was because Adrianna didn't get out of school for the year until July 2nd--the joys of year round school. But school didn't start again until September 2nd so we did get a break. Adrianna was ready to start school this year. Lots of new and exciting changes. She has chosen to attend a public Charter School this year. It was one of three options she had--to go to the new neighborhood school, to go to a different elementary school that had the ALPS program (an advanced reading and math program she had tested into early in the year) or, to attend a Charter School. After weighing our options, talking a lot, and some prayer she choose the Charter School. On the first day we were so excited and a little nervous about getting there on time (it's a little bit of a drive) that we forgot to take pictures on the first day. So one morning this week before school we did a little reenactment. Here are pictures from the "pretend first day."
All went well and we got to school on time--one of many, many cars full of kids. The nightmare began with pick-up time. They had a nifty system in place, but being the first day everything went wrong. It took almost an hour (should have only been about 25 minutes from leaving home to getting back home) waiting in a huge line of cars full of parents trying to all get to the same place to pick-up their kids. I was wondering if I had made a terrible mistake! Fortunately the problems of the first day's pick-up nightmare have been pretty much solved (thank goodness, or I'd have to seriously reconsider our school options!)
Adrianna is loving school and her teacher, making new friends and all she really likes having a strict dress code (i.e. almost a uniform) and I like it too. It sure cuts down on the early morning wardrobe related arguments! Now if we could just get her to move a little faster and wake up a little happier--NOT a Morning Person!

Adrianna looks so cute on her pretend first day!
agreed. i like what she finally picked out to wear
This has nothing to do with your post: You really should come curling on Monday. I think it'll only be $10 a person or something like that.
I second Patrick's curling suggestion. :)
